Our plastics reprocessing facility in Avonmouth, Bristol will reprocess over 80,000 tonnes of plastic every year - more than 1.6 billion bottles, tubs, and trays – creating recycled raw material to return to the economy. Plastic recycling at the facility will save 126,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year, the equivalent of taking over 67,000 cars off the road.


We have an opportunity in Avonmouth for an Electrical Control & Instrumentation Engineer to join our team, working 42.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday.


The salary for this role will be £54,815.00 per year, with participation in an annual bonus scheme, in addition to our great range of benefits.

Our new EC&I Engineer will be responsible for all aspects of the EC&I engineering and maintenance at the site and will provide site expertise in for all EC&I systems / equipment.


Working collaboratively with the Mechanical Engineer and the Maintenance Planner, the EC&I Engineer will efficiently plan maintenance tasks and manage their team to execute reactive and planned maintenance activities to ensure machine condition, availability and standards are maintained.


The EC&I Engineer will provide technical support/governance to ensure improvement projects are implemented to the correct standards and in line with site, as well as owning the statutory inspections.


In addition, this role will be responsible for ensuring a positive safety culture is upheld at all levels, as well as line managing a team of EC&I Technicians.


Our Ideal EC&I Engineer will have:

  • Understanding of an EC&I engineering role from areas such as FMCG/ manufacturing/ waste management
  • Knowledge of low voltage, high voltage and control systems such as PLC, comms system such as Profibus
  • Experience of working as a EC&I Engineer with relevant background, level of expertise, and a focus on Production.
  • Experience of Line Managing a team within a large multi-skilled department
  • The ability to successfully manage and deliver on multiple tasks with competing priorities and strict time lines
  • An Engineering qualification such as HNC / HND (or equivalent) in Electrical / C&I Engineering or a closely related subject.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proven presentation skills
  • Experience of developing technical solutions from concept selection, through design development, installation and commissioning.
  • Effective team building skills and the ability to motivate others.
